HDX Ready System on Chip

HDX Ready System on Chip

Enabling the power of HDX to a whole new class of devices

Expanding the power of virtual computing, Citrix is driving ways for end users to access and use virtual apps and desktops with the highest levels of user experience on new range of devices. In October 2011 at Synergy Barcelona, Citrix announced a “HDX Ready System-on-Chip”, which delivers a standards-based chipset optimized to deliver a rich HDX user experience.

The new technology initiative enables broad ecosystem of vendors to create new high-performance HDX clients and new form factors at a low cost. The new reference design will be available initially for standards based ARM solutions but will be extended to include x86-based implementations.

HDX on a wide range of form factors at lower costs

We are working closely with key partners like Texas Instruments and NComputing to design a highly flexible HDX Ready SoC reference architecture that is based on industry standards and leverages off-the-shelf components. In addition to powerful, hardware-assisted HDX optimizations, the SoC reference implementations will feature a flexible design that can be updated as Citrix advances its HDX technology, and as hardware vendors update their products. Best of all, the initiative is also expected to dramatically reduce the cost of high-definition zero clients, ultimately breaking the sub-$100 price point.
